Over a Decade of Experience
Over the past 15 years, I've worked for two of the top four residential architects in Washington DC, honing my skills in crafting rich and elegant custom homes for noteworthy clients on the East Coast.
Beyond working on amazing residential projects, I've worked on large and complex projects for nationally acclaimed architecture firms. This has included; higher education buildings, hospitals, multifamily residential, midrise office buildings, grocery stores, retail interior build-outs, and restaurants.
I've worked on everything from carefully crafted residential projects to large urban master plans. I will work with you, no matter the project size or budget. Collaborative Process for Design Excellence
There are many important tenets of design that Land Agency focuses on. Building is resource intensive and so a conscientious design process is essential.
Phase 1: Context & Predesign
This is the preliminary information gathering process. It is important to gather all of the constraints and create precise drawings of the existing conditions to make the best informed decisions. A deep understanding of the place that exists informs all the other processes.
Site studies allow for exploring all of the potential opportunities to best utilize the project site and integrate into the area's existing environment. Extending the scope to the context allows for exciting opportunities to have building and landscape in harmony.
Phase 2: Ideas
Going from a blank page to a creative solution takes approaching the problem from different directions. A range of concepts is generated to figure out the best approach.
This phase is about the big picture ideas. Massing and solar studies are done to look at proportions and the implications of building. Getting the framework correct is important and includes examining spatial flow, the proper volume of spaces, building within site constraints, the relationship between interior and the outdoors, creating unique design moments.
Phase 3: Build Beautiful; Build Better
Land Agency specially crafts each project that allows a rigor for each detail that can be felt in the results. Building better starts when a final idea has been selected and the project is moving towards construction drawings.
A majority of new construction has poor details that reduce energy efficiency, poor material and fixture selection meant to look good enough just in the moment. We work hard to fight against this mantra in the modern construction industry.
A thorough set of drawings makes sure that the number of surprises is minimized during construction. Especially in residential home building, clients end up with sparse drawings that allow for a wide range of interpretations. When major items are planned for, there aren’t opportunities for major hiccups during construction.
